Lesson Plan

KSSR LESSON PLAN ENGLISH YEAR 1

Day : Wednesday
Date : 25th. May, 2011
Class : 1 Gemilang
Time : 8.45a.m.-9.45a.m. (60 minutes)
Enrolment : 24 pupils
Subject : English Language
Topic : Colour
Theme : World of self, family and friends.
Vocabulary : Red, Blue, Black, Yellow, Green

Objectives : By the end of the lesson, pupils would be able to:
                 1. Listen to a song and enjoy it.
                 2. Sing the song and express their likes or dislikes.
                 3. Read the words pertaining to colours.
                 4. Match the flash cards with the colour cards.

Teaching Aids : Radio cassette player, Lyrics on Power Point presentation, flashcards,
colour cards.

Teaching And Learning Strategy
Notes

Set Induction (5 mins)
-The pupils sing a ”Colour” Song.
-Teacher plays Radio Cassette;
-The pupils listen to the song carefully.
-They sing together.
-Teacher asks the pupils whether they like or dislike the song.

(10 mins)
-Introducing colours

-Teacher shows the colours such as Red, Black, Blue, Yellow, Green
-Teacher asks the pupils to name them.They name the colour cards.
-Teacher then shows flashcards.
-Teacher reads out the vocab and asks them to read and spell them.

Step 2 (10 mins)
Oral practice

-Teacher divides them into five groups.
-There are five members in each group.
-Teacher distributes the picture colours to each group.
-Each group member must show the picture colours when teacher shows the flashcards.
-They are also instucted to say the word on the flashcard aloud.

(15 mins)
Practice
Matching activity.
-Teacher puts the cards on the blackboard i.e. red, blue, black and yellow.
-Teacher asks a pupil to come to the front of the class and choose a flashcard and match it to the correct colour card.
-Teacher asks him/her to read out the vocab.
-Teacher asks the others to clap their hands.



Step 4
(15 mins)
-Written exercise
- Teacher asks them to open their activity books on page 61.
-Teacher asks them to colour the objects and to fill in the blanks.
E.g.:
1. The_________ is red.
2. The_________ is blue.
Teacher guides them.

Step 5
(5 mins)
Closure Summing up
-Teacher asks them to sing once again the ”Colour Song”.
-Teacher instills the moral value of ’Gratitude’ to the Creator who creates colours.
